EMAIL FROM MARIE 8/24/2009
FORGIVE any oversights in my asking for help - I concentrated on those I could recall in Louisville area. I do not have current e-mail on Linda Miller Dabney - Sherman & Judie Wylie Henderson or Steve Porter. When I return from my travels , I want to put the pedal to metal on planning 2010 WHS REUNION. Many are asking me for a date certain. Those of us who are out of town need to make travel plans. I suggest one of first two week-ends in October 2010 because I have had requests to avoid June and September. We need to speak for a convenient hotel room package. We need to consider activities for FRI (day & evening) - SAT (day & evening) - SUN (brunch) ... I think some frivolity and some casual and some semi-formal would be a great mix. If it is priced out separately and price is an issue everyone can pick & choose. I have a collection of suggestions I will share. I hope we can agree on 5 year reunion intervals and I think it would be good to set the dates!! 2010 -2015 - 2020 - 2025 - 2030 ... We are looking at this one and 4 more if we are lucky to get us to 75 years ... how many will still be traveling at age 88? age 93? Hope you will help!
Love, Marie VanHoose Sayre

| EMAIL FROM BERT PENCE, 7/12/2009 Are all of the Sultans still with us? I for one, would be willing to cough up some $ to reunite them for a waggener party. The dress would be the 50s, the attitude that of the teens of the 50s and joy, unmatched. Think about it folks. Comments welcome.
Bert Pence class 0' 60. Love to
all.

| Email from Chuck 4/22/2009 I could probably arrange a private tour of Hillerich & Bradsby if people would like that. Just
give me sufficient lead time and how many people we shall have. Chuck Armstrong |

had several positive responses to Masonic
Home suggestion so I went on line to
www.theolmsted.com/
for additional information. If you check this link most of the info
is just their various menu items but the first page and the 3rd page
will give info about facility size availability and cost. Also,
someone suggested they'd like Churchill Downs which would be open if
the reunion is held the end of May to 1st half of June. Other ideas
might include antiquing either here or in Glendale, KY. There is also
Louisville Slugger museum and the Frazier museum within walking
distance of each other and if you go you would pass the Science Center
and you can't go wrong with IMAX no matter what's showing. If they're
in town, the River Bats could be of interest along with exploring the
Frankfort Avenue corridor. In fact, on the last Friday of each month
there is F.A.T. Friday when you can have free trolley rides and visit
crafts, clothing, glass blowing, wine tasting, snacks, etc. There's
not a lot left around here that's the way it was back in '60 but if
anyone had an interest, Ten Pin Bowling Alley is still here.

Wondered if there would be any interest in checking into having a lunch/brunch at the Masonic Home as part of the reunion festivities. It has been renovated/restored into a beautiful retirement community but the dining hall in the center of the campus, now called The Olmsted, has been kept for rentals, i.e. weddings, receptions, parties, silent auctions, etc. If there is any interest, we could find out if the rental was possible for the week-end picked and what the cost would be. Also, if there's still a need for committee participants, let me know. Libby (Blankenship '60) Darnell

Libby et al., The Olmstead is a wonderful choice, much better to stay in the
'hood. It is a great facility, operated by Masterson's. However, for
those of us who spent many an hour sweating in the nearby Masonic
Home gym and those who came to watch us, the destruction of that
gymnasium by turning it into offices and meeting space would be
pretty sad. You can still see some of the old floor and some of the
concrete bleachers, but it has been completely transformed. That was
always regarded as the best basketball floor in the state because of
the air cushion underneath. That's why Doc Adams used it for Eastern
HS when he was there and Waggener when he transferred. I understand
it had no economic value for Masonic Home, so it was a necessity,
but a shame anyway. Maybe we could take all the old b'ball players
and cheerleaders over and take a sad picture.

Email Response from Bruce 3/2/2009 Sounds good to me. It doesn't seem
possible that 50 years have passed.
Remember that growing old is mandatory,
growing up is optional!

I haven't heard from nor contacted the
school as yet... that is a good idea. We may be able to arrange the
opening reception and registration at the school. I updated your home
e-mail as requested.
eturley@windstream.net
I have Wally Adams - Ben Cundiff - Rich
Stokes and Mel Borland ... do you need them or were you offering them??
I will work on a list of the names from which I need information. Thanks
for your contact. Marie V. Sayre

TO: Classmates: 1960,
1961 AND
1962
2010 is 50 years since
Class of '60 graduated from Waggener
High School ... and 49 years for Class of
'61... and 48 years
for Class of '62. It is time
to set the date for our reunion week-end. My husband's class has set an
early June week-end and Robert Ling has business overseas at that
time. "Biggs" Tabler suggested from mid-May before Memorial Day week-end
OR in alternative I suggest mid-September thru mid October.
I think we need at least 12 -20 committee
members. You can then elect a chairman, a secretary and a treasurer
(perhaps one for each class). And, assign FRI "sign-in" and FRI night -
SAT morning - SAT afternoon & SAT night - SUN farewell brunch ...
IF YOU WILL HELP contact me
mdvsayre@sbcglobal.
I am working steadily on updating my address
and e-mail and phone list. It is constantly in flux....
I have 225 contacts for '60
with 60 unknown and 39 deceased.
And, I have 225 contacts for '61 with
121 unknown and 26 deceased. I have not as yet counted what I have on
Class of '62.
I favor a JOINT CLASS REUNION EVENT
and would like to see us move to 5 year intervals with other events
interspersed. We are not getting any younger and we are thinning in our
ranks!! There is still space on the VIKING Danube River Cruise
4/15-4/29/2009 and I am working with "Sandy" Thomas & Barry
Munz on an Atlanta Area Gathering in July 2009 and I
really enjoyed the group that gathered in October 2008 at
Gilman's Point (RICK'S). Former WHS teacher, Estelle Logsdon
Zimlich joined us!!
Looking forward to hearing from all of
you!!
