He was born December 28, 1943 in Louisville, the son of Carolyn Rudy Barth
and Lewis Deibel Miller.
Prior to graduating from the University of Louisville, he married Rebecca
Arnold. They moved to Anchorage in 1967 where Rudy was very involved in
the community, serving four terms on the Anchorage City Council and 20
years as a trustee on the Anchorage Fire Protection District. He was named
Citizen of the Year in 2003.
One of his greatest joys was acting as Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop
110, where he helped guide 20 scouts to Eagle rank. Another source of
involvement which he greatly enjoyed was Anchorage Public School, where
his three children attended.
Rudy joined A. Arnold World Class Relocation in 1970 where he became vice
president. President Rick Russell shared that, "Rudy was the most visible
A. Arnold representative through most of his 35 years with the company and
contributed heavily to the growth and success of the business." In 1982
Rudy assumed ownership of Arnold Air Freight and remained involved with
his partner Paul Kordik.
Rudy was a proud member of the
Rotary Club of Louisville and considered it a privilege to serve as
president in 2003. Additionally he was a charter member of the Interface
Society founded in 1985, an organization focused on fund raising for local
charities. Rudy also served on the board of the Kentucky Relocation
Council and the Sales and Marketing Executives.

children, Rudy became a board member of YMCA Camp Piomingo where he
chaired from 1985-1987. He was recognized as an Outstanding Volunteer in
1985, 1988, and 1990. Rudy was elected to the YMCA of Greater Louisville
Association Board in 1988 and was named Emeritus Member in 2006.
Rudy was a sixth generation descendant of the founding members of
Beargrass Christian Church which was established in 1842. For many years
he was very active in the church participating as elder, teacher and
coach. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and
friend. He greeted everyone with a smile, and never met a stranger. Rudy
possessed an infectious exuberance of spirit and loved to be in the
company of others.
