Father, grandfather, husband, businessman and philanthropist, Robert "Bob" Matt, 68, of Niskayuna, NY, died Friday, February 6, 2009, at Ellis Hospital, after a short battle with cancer. Bob, a kind man who continually gave of himself to countless people throughout his life, was born in Schenectady, NY, and remained there his whole life. He is the son of the late William and Emily (Shayne) Matt. Bob was a 1962 graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, where he remained a dedicated basketball fan and financial supporter. He served in the National Guard stationed in Ft. Dix, NJ, was the past president of The New York State Society of Public Accountants Northeast Chapter, and past director of the State Society, past president of The Schenectady County Chamber of Commerce, and former shareholder and director of taxation at Marvin & Co. PC CPAs. Bob's most current role was personal financial specialist and president of resourceful financial management, Inc. in Albany, NY. He was a longtime member of the Mohawk Golf Club in Niskayuna, NY, where he pursued his passion for golf. His late wife, Lois (Newman) Matt predeceased him in July of 1999. Bob is survived by his wife, Linda (Cadieux) Matt of Niskayuna, NY, whom he married in Hawaii in 2007; his brother, William J. Matt (Nancy) of Loudonville, NY; three sons, Bruce Matt (Ann) of Guilderland, NY, Brian Matt (Kathy) of Wellesley, MA, and Mark Matt of Schenectady, NY; and by his daughter, Lori Matt-Murphy (Scott Murphy) of Guilderland, NY; also survived by his five grandchildren, Robert D. Matt, Alexander Matt, Elizabeth Matt, Logan Murphy and Casey Murphy; sister-in-law, Marcia McDonald (Ken) of Schenectady, NY; and by two step-children, Mark Gray of Denton, TX and James Gray of Kensington, MD; and by three step-grandchildren, Michelle Gray, Georgia Gray, and Charley Gray; and numerous other family and friends. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam, NY. Funeral services will occur on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by interment in St. Cyril Cemetery, 611 Duanesburg Road, Schenectady, NY.
