ADAMS, SALLY BROWN, 62, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at her residence. She was a retired teacher having taught at Ballard, Shelby Co., and Franklin Co. High Schools. She was a member of KY. Education Association, Kentucky Council of Teachers of English, and Centenary United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, KY. She served two terms as reporter/editor of the Franklin Co. teacher's association. Two years in a row awarded first place (as editor) in the state of Kentucky for medium sized teacher locals. Served two terms as President of the Franklin Co. Education Association. Runner up candidate (1994) for the Ky. Distinguished Educator program. She is survived by her husband, Roy Wallace "Wally" Adams; her wonderful children who always gave her such happiness, Michael Adams (Kristie) and Rachel Apthorpe (Andrew); her two grandsons, Nick Adams and Rex Apthorpe, who filled her days with love and laughter; her parents, John and Selma Brown; her sisters, Cathy Cook (Jim), Shelbyville, KY, and Jennifer D. Brown (Meagan); Lexington, KY; her brother, J. Michael Brown (Jane), Louisville; and nephews, Alex Brown, Michael Brown, Taylor Brown, Greg Cook and Matthew Cook. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Pearson's, 149 Breckenridge Lane, with burial to follow in Cave Hill cemetery. Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Friday and noon-2 p.m. Saturday. Memorials to American Cancer Society or WHAS Crusade for Children.
