Timothy Whitcomb "Uncle Tim" Shrewsbury

 

 

 

SHREWSBURY, TIMOTHY WHITCOMB "UNCLE TIM," 64, of Norfolk, VA passed away Thursday, November 1, 2007 in the hospice unit of Baptist Northeast in LaGrange, KY. Tim graduated in 1961 from Waggoner High School in Louisville after which he attended Indiana University. Later, he served as a first lieutenant in the United States Army. He was later a partner in Commonwealth Land and Timber Company in VA. He was an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk and taught Sunday school and led small groups for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Colonel Martin Whitcomb Shrewsbury; his mother, June Remmers and his stepfather, George Remmers. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 15 years, Judith; stepdaughter, Meredith Wilkins; mother-in-law, Peggy Blassingham; two sisters, Lynne Shannonhouse and Pamela Knapp (Wally); five nephews, Timothy Skomsky (Zita), Jesse Wesselman (Megan), Gabriel Wesselman (Heather), Paul Michael Wesselman (Theresa), and Christopher Junk; one niece, Joanna Brandt (Doug); two godchildren, Scott and Alison Larmee; and uncle and aunt, Admiral Dean and Sally Axene; two stepbrothers, Jim (Diana) and Rick Remmers; and two stepsisters, Sue Baldwin (Andy) and Jane Meuter (Craig). He is also survived by many close friends and loved ones. After his illness was diagnosed, "Uncle Tim's" acceptance and faith in the Lord served as an inspiration and encouragement to all who had the privilege of knowing him. We all thank God for the time we were able to share with him and the blessings he brought to each of our lives. He will be forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held noon Friday, November 9, 2007 at the First Presbyterian Church of Norfolk, 820 Colonial Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23507. In honor of his memory, donations may be made to the missions fund of the church.
